What can you expect in a massage therapy session?

Your massage session will take place in a warm, quiet room. Soft music may be played to help you relax. Before your session begins you will create a plan with your therapist. The plan will address what type of therapy would most benefit you, what areas of the body will be massaged, how long the session will last, and any other questions or concerns.
After the plan is created, the therapist will leave the room. You may undress to your level of comfort, relax on the table, and cover yourself with a sheet. You will be properly draped at all times. Only the area being worked on will be exposed.
During the massage session, your therapist will either gently move you or tell you what is needed throughout the session (such as lifting your leg). If you feel any discomfort you should let your therapist know immediately. Communication is important for an effective massage.
